Intellectual Property Rights: Enforcement is the Best Defence

In April CIOPORA’s Annual General Meeting, on intellectual property rights, took place in Ghent, Belgium.
CIOPORA is the international community of breeders of asexually reproduced ornamental and fruit plants.
Attracting 120 members from countries all over the world, CIOPORA’s mission is to improve and harmonize regulations for the protection of plant varieties for the benefit of society.

Rafi Karniel, CEO of Grapa Varieties, supports CIOPORA as a newly appointed Board Member, as well as the Grapevine Crop-Leader. During the week-long CIOPORA event, Rafi chaired the first-ever Practical Aspects of Enforcement Symposium, focusing on intellectual property rights, which was met with enthusiasm and support from attendees.

Intellectual Property Rights: Yael Miara

Grapa’s IPR Manager, Ms. Yael Miara presented a talk on Tools for Enforcement: variety identification by DNA fingerprinting and labeling systems. 

Ms. Alexandra Sapir, Grapa’s Legal Manager delivered a talk on Best Enforcement Practices for the EU Market and Customs Inspections.
