To celebrate the start of the new year, in this edition we take a look back at some of the highlights of 2019 and appreciate what a great year it’s been for the ARRA programme. In addition, we are thrilled to have this opportunity to thank you, our loyal readers, for staying with us throughout 2019 and we are looking forward to keeping you up to date on the further development of the ARRA programme in 2020.
On the international exhibition circuit, the Grapa team kicked off 2019 with presentations of the ARRA™ varieties at Fruit Logistica, Berlin, followed later by appearances at Fruit Logistica in Hong Kong, PMA Fresh Fruit Summit in California, the Global Grape Summit in London and Fruit Attraction in Madrid. As always, these events provided a great opportunity to present the ARRA varieties to a global audience.
In keeping with tradition, the year saw the presentation of the annual ARRA field days at the ARD breeding programme site in Bakersfield. The field days were the first held since the passing of dear John Giumarra Jr. and his presence was sorely missed.
The pictures of the field days below, bring back great memories of hot days and even hotter grapes and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone again to Bakersfield, in 2020.
This year, the ARRA technical teams worldwide once again pulled out all the stops in their support of the ARRA growers. 2019, saw numerous ARRA field days and technical seminars take place across the globe. The Grapa team, which took part in many of the events, was delighted and inspired to see such dedication and enthusiasm from the participating growers towards the ARRA programme.
