ARRA Sugar Drop™ (ARRA 30)
Lilla&Giuliani, Italy
In our previous newsletter, we reported the success of ARRA Sugar Drop™ (ARRA 30) in Italy. This variety is particularly loved by the European market, thanks to its first-rate eating quality, the attractive elongated berries and the well-balanced sweetness all housed beneath a crisp and crunchy skin. The Italian producers mastered their skills in producing great quality ARRA Sugar Drop and confirms this variety is indeed a very grower-friendly variety to grow.

Alberto Toro, Agronomist of Lilla & Giuliani stated: “Our company this year will achieve top quality, healthy grapes from the areas located between the provinces of Taranto and Bari. Although this past season has been a dry one that has negatively influenced the management of the vineyard, it has allowed for the depletion of various diseases, such as powdery mildew. The harvest of ARRA 30 began in the first ten days of July, in the area of Mola di Bari and the berries are crunchy with amazing flavor.”

Raimsa SAT, Spain
On July 15, RAIMSA S.A.T began harvesting ARRA 30, located in La Romana, the province of Alicante, Spain. The crop is outstanding and it is thanks to the exceptional vine management and guidelines delivered by AVI agronomists, Maurizio Simone and Marco Tempesta, that were followed with precision.

Tomás Rosatto, Commercial Manager and Technician of new varieties at Raimsa reports: “We are very satisfied with the commercial results of ARRA Sugar Drop (ARRA 30), which has been highly appreciated by our customers. The level of acceptance in the European market has been very good and the absence of seeds and the early harvest date, makes this variety a good choice for early white grapes, especially with its productivity and great flavor”.
Tomás concludes: “ARRA 30 is a variety with large berries and uniform color. The juicy and crisp pulp and the perfect balance of sugar-acid make it a variety with a lot of “personality” and this is what invites the consumer to keep on eating it”.

Thanks to RAIMSA and its excellent partnership with BOLLO, a valuable trademark recognized all over the world, the quality of the ARRA seedless grapes are freshly brought to the main European markets.

Geva Ohana, Israel
The producers in Israel are really excited about this year’s production of ARRA Sugar Drop (ARRA 30) which proved to be, once again, very successful and adapted really well to the southern Israel climate.

This past year, ARRA Sugar Drop (ARRA 30), has produced excellent quality harvests in the Mediterranean areas like Egypt, Italy, Morocco and Israel. ARRA Sugar Drop is loved by both, the producers, for its productivity and ease of production and by the consumer’s thanks to its great eating quality and sweetness. Geva describes this season as a remarkable one and says: “ARRA 30 is one of the tastier varieties I have eaten in the past few years. The crispiness along with the high sugar level makes the flavor of this variety perfect”.
Geva continues: “By following the easy guidelines provided by Grapa, ARRA 30 results are incredible and I am very happy with the returns I obtained this season”.

It is with great sorrow...
Last week, while in Bakersfield, California, the Karniel Family attended the ceremony held in honor of Sal Giumarra.
Sal Giumarra, who for 50 years led the Giumarra family grape-growing operation, died at age 95 in Bakersfield on March 25, 2021. During his tenure as president of Giumarra Vineyards, Sal oversaw the Company’s expansion to become known as a premier grower of table grapes and established the “GrapeKing” label as an industry standard of quality throughout the world. He did this not from behind a desk but in the fields alongside his employees, and many of his farming innovations are now standard practices in the industry. Sal Giumarra and Shachar Karniel dreamed together of a table grapes breeding project. They achieved their dream and today the ARRA Breeding Program is appreciated and recognized worldwide.
