ARRA Field Day Variety Spotlight

The TopFruit team, the exclusive territorial agent for the commercialization of the ARRA™ varieties and Early Sweet™ in Southern Africa, is making sure everyone gets to experience ARRA Honey Pop™. In week 47, a Field Day was held at Sweet Sensation Farm, Augrabies, Northern Cape. There was great attendance from big growers and also key export companies present on the day. Attendees could enjoy seeing the beautiful performance of the ARRA Honey Pop in their commercial block. This very early variety received good feedback and a lot of attention.

ARRA Honey Pop has too many upsides to consider anything else

DJ Strauss, Sweet Sensation Farm Head Manager, explained the growing protocols of ARRA Honey Pop and shared his bottom line with the attendees: “Compared to other early white varieties, this one has too many upsides to even consider anything else”. He further explains: “The amount of labour used here is minimal and so you can benefit at farm level already; farming more cost effective”.

Great Excitement around ARRA Fire Crunch and ARRA Cherry Crush

During the field day the attendees also visited Sweet Sensation’s commercial ARRA Passion Fire™ block. At the farm’s trial plot there was great excitement around the ARRA Fire Crunch™ and ARRA Cherry Crush™, although it is still at an early stage. Producers and marketers plan to keep an eye on the progress of these two varieties throughout the season.
