Meet the Nursery; this week we are pleased to present a feature on ARRA™ licensed nursery in Peru, Vivero Los Vinedos.

All in the Family

Vivero Los Vinedos SAC is a family business founded in 1994 by Mercedes Auris and Juan Munive Olivera. The nursery was initially just four hectares in size and during the first years propagated vine plants for national production of Peruvian agriculture.

Vivero Los Vinedos has expanded over the years, opening second and third headquarters in the cities of Trujillo and Arequipa respectively.
In 2007, the nursery marked a milestone in the history of the Peruvian agroindustry by developing in the Piura and Arequipa region and presenting test plots of vines, thereby increasing vine plantations in the northern region and improving the economic and social development of the area.

Today, Vivero Los Vinedos has more than sixty hectares of mother blocks which produce a supply of pathogen-free plant material and have more than thirty hectares of vines in production in the Piura region for marketing and export.
In addition, the nursery has its own laboratory for producing beneficial microorganisms and a tissue culture laboratory for cleaning the mother block plant material.

Last year, Vivero Los Vinedos became a licensed ARRA nursery, propagating varieties such as; ARRA 15 (ARRA Sweeties™), ARRA 29 (ARRA Passion Fire™), ARRA 30 (ARRA Sugar Drop™), and ARRA 32 (ARRA Mystic Dream™). By producing these highly productive varieties, VLV is setting a trend in the agro-industrial sector and positioning itself as one of the main options for Peruvian producers.
Evaluations of the ARRA varieties are being carried out to determine their adaptability to the production areas in Peru, thus providing Vivero Los Vinedos clients with the best choices available.

Vivero Los Vinedos team

In November 2018, Vivero Los Vinedos organized an ARRA field day in Agricola Ispana and Agricola Maneulita where the participants learned about the management of ARRA varieties and their great potential for Peruvian agriculture.
